My second marathon, 11 years after my first. I set out with the goal of beating my previous time.
My training plan consisted of running. Lots. With no structure. Unsurprisingly I got injured (tight IT band). After 6 weeks off, I built up the mileage in 6 weeks with 1 week of taper.
I knew about eating on the run this time so carried gels and twiglets to snack on. I managed to keep a fairly steady pace for the whole race, slowing a little towards the end to prevent cramp.
Finished in 3:55:43. Officially a new PR.
